What We Provide
Here are some helpful tips to get your cat in their carrier. START EARLY: Once you have your travel plans arranged, get out that carrier. Ideally, do this at least a month in advance. Put the carrier in a corner of a room where you spend time together with your cats. The goal is to make it just another piece of your furnishings. CHECK YOUR CARRIER: On a durable plastic carrier make sure the doors close properly, if you are missing pieces like screws or latches you can use zip ties or bungy cords to secure the carrier. For soft carriers make sure zippers are working. Disguise the carrier: Cats like to hide especially when they are nervous or afraid. Put bedding in the carrier and cover it with a light blanket, pillowcase, or some type of fabric. You can also place toys and treats in the carrier or start meal feeding your cat in there. Using a product like feliway spray or wipes may also be helpful in getting your cat used to their carrier. If you do this daily, you may soon have a cat who likes spending time in their carrier. When animals are nervous it is common for them to have bathroom accidents. It is a good idea to use a pee pad or a towel in the carrier and bring a garbage bag and a change of towel or pee pads in case your cat has an accident in the carrier.
